Our Story
The Liyuan Theatre is nestled in the heart of Beijing's historic Xicheng District, just south of Tian'anmen Square. This vibrant area is steeped in the rich cultural heritage of old imperial Beijing and is renowned as the birthplace of Peking Opera, one of China's most cherished traditional art forms, famous for its elaborate costumes, stylized movements, and captivating vocal performances.
Housed within the historic Qianmen Jianguo Hotel—originally constructed in 1956 following the founding of the People's Republic of China and beautifully renovated in 2002—the theatre seamlessly blends modern comfort with traditional charm.
